Description

Komnina–Florovouni is a 262km hydrogen pipeline, that will run through West Macedonia and Epirus regions and become a crucial link between the Greek and Italian hydrogen transmission system.

The project has been included in the 2nd list of Projects of Common Interest of the European Commission and is expected to deliver substantial strategic, economic, and environmental benefits by offering an additional export route for Greece.

The pipeline will play a crucial role in bolstering the resilience and energy security of the Greek energy system, while also supporting regional energy security, enhance cross-border market integration, and attract investment in hydrogen production and infrastructure within Greece, positioning the country as a vital transit hub in the emerging European hydrogen network.

Interconnection with other countries

The project will be crucial link in the interconnection of Greek Hydrogen Backbone with the respective Italinanhydrogen transmission system, enabling bilateral cooperation and trade between the two countries.
