DESFA’s auction process for reserving unloading slots and regasification capacity at the Revithoussa LNG Terminal has been completed. The strong demand is evident in the near-total reservation of slots for the 2025-2030 period, with interest extending to 2032. This result confirms Revithoussa’s strategic role in the energy security of Greece and the wider region, reflecting growing market confidence in DESFA’s infrastructure.
Amidst significant volatility, the increased interest in securing unloading slots at Revithoussa highlights the key role that the Terminal plays in the energy security of Greece and Southeastern Europe, in full alignment with the strategic objectives of the Vertical Corridor.
Greece’s LNG exports are expected to increase significantly in the coming years, thanks to investments for the upgrade of the National Natural Gas Transmission System. Projects such as the Karperi-Komotini pipeline and the Compression Stations in Ambelia, Komotini, and Nea Mesimvria will further strengthen the country’s export capacity to international markets.
More specifically, for the Year 2025, all 41 slots offered were reserved and correspond to the unloading of a total quantity of 35TW. Accordingly, in this year’s auction for 2026, 21 of the 22 total offered slots were reserved for unloading a quantity of 35 TW out of the offered quantity of 35.5 TW. Regarding 2027, 44 of the 44 offered slots were reserved for the unloading of 36.5 TWh. As regards 2028, all 44 slots offered were reserved and correspond to the unloading of a total quantity of 35TWh. For the year 2029, 43 of the 43 offered slots were reserved for the unloading of 35.5 TWh. For the year 2030, 40 slots out of 43 slots offered were reserved for 33.5 TWh. For 2031, 20 of the offered slots have been reserved, corresponding to a quantity of 19 TWh. At the same time, despite the long time gap, 2 slots have already been reserved for 2032, with a total quantity of 2 TWh.

DESFA’s annual unloading planning and capacity booking process, implemented since 2020 and based on market mechanisms (auctions), ensures the effective use of the Revithoussa LNG facility, adapting to changing conditions in the Greek and international LNG markets.
