Removal of Alarm Status 1 “Early Warning Level” and restoration of NNGTS to normal operation

Posted on July 29, 2020

The Alert Status 1 (Early Warning Level) that DESFA declared on Monday, July 27th, as a result of the incident that took place earlier that day at the natural gas pipeline in Bulgaria that supplies also our country with natural gas, is over. The damage to the Bulgarian section of the natural gas pipeline has been fully repaired and the flow has resumed at the Entry Point of Sidirokastro, as a result of the immediate and effective coordination of all stakeholders from both the Greek and the Bulgarian side.

Once again, the importance of the LNG Facility in Revithoussa was reaffirmed, which, operating at full capacity, ensured the supply of Greek consumers in a day of high consumption of natural gas due to the high temperatures.

The cooperation of DESFA with the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, the Users and all the involved corporate and institutional bodies of Bulgaria was seamless/impeccable, as the common goal was to ensure the lowest possible impact on Users for continuous and safe access to the Transmission Network.
