DESFA co-signed the CEO pledge of the European Hydrogen Backbone for the establishment of hydrogen supply corridors by 2030

Posted on June 7, 2022

DESFA CEO, Maria Rita Galli, co-signed during the EHB Day organized in Brussels on Tuesday, June 7th, the CEO pledge of the European Hydrogen Backbone initiative for the establishment of hydrogen supply corridors by 2030 as an enabler for a European hydrogen market creation. Through the pledge, the European Hydrogen Backbone initiative and its members, consisting of 31 TSOs including DESFA, confirm their readiness to deliver the hydrogen infrastructure required to meet the European Commission’s ambitious REPowerEU targets for 2030 and beyond, asking for a clear mandate and the suitable policy and regulatory support for the delivery of this goal.

The five large-scale #pipelinecorridors envisaged by EHB will initially connect domestic local supply and demand in Europe, before expanding and connecting European regions and neighboring countries with low-cost hydrogen export potential. Corridor E for East and South-East Europe will be connecting high supply potential regions such as Greece, Romania and Ukraine, leveraging on DESFA’s network and interconnections for the delivery of hydrogen to off-takers in Central Europe and Germany.
