DESFA successfully held a virtual presentation in cooperation with partner TSOs informing Users on all aspects of the joint capacity product ahead of the new auction
Athens, 19 June 2025- On Thursday, 19 June 2025, DESFA successfully held in cooperation with the Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of Bulgaria (Bulgartransgaz), Romania (Transgaz), Moldova (VestMoldTransgaz), and Ukraine (GTSOU) a virtual presentation call on the recently launched “Route 1” bundled capacity product for natural gas deliveries to Ukraine. The presentation call attracted over 200 participants from Greece and neighboring countries, who demonstrated vivid interest through the numerous questions submitted during the Q&A session.
The new product aims to strengthen energy security and promote diversification across Central and Southeastern Europe, facilitating Ukraine in procuring part of the necessary gas quantities, including LNG, through various sources via the strategically positioned Trans-Balkan route.

Ahead of the new Route 1 capacity product auction to be held on Monday, June 23rd, the event brought together stakeholders from across the European gas sector to discuss the capacity booking and nomination process for Route 1 and to outline the specific regulatory and operational rules for access to each of the five interconnected national systems.
The initiative is of strategic importance for Ukraine’s energy security, especially ahead of the upcoming winter season. Τhe new Route 1 capacity product auction will be held on the fourth Monday of each month immediately preceding the month the auctions concern, that is for the period June 2025 – October 2025 (five monthly products).
The presentation marked yet another milestone in the close cooperation among the Transmission System Operators, who reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthening energy resilience and diversification, making a significant contribution to Europe’s energy security in line with European policies on competition, transparency, and sustainability.
