“Health and Safety Awards 2019: Six Important Distinctions for DESFA”

DESFA was awarded, one more time, at “Health and Safety Awards 2019” for its leading practices, actions and policy in the areas of Health and Safety at work.

The Operator received six distinctions from the eight nominated candidatures during the special award ceremony held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Anais Club, in Varibobi, in the presence of many companies, organizations and decision makers of the market.

More specifically, DESFA was awarded as WINNER in the “Petroleum & Petrochemicals” business sector, which, according to the institution, is the greatest recognition in the overall health management and safety at work in the industry. The award was received by the CEO of DESFA, Mr. N. Battilana.

In parallel, the Operator received:

  • GOLD Award “Investing on the Human” in the category of Education & Awareness of Personnel. The award was received by Mr. P. Theodorakis, Administrative Services Division Director.
  • GOLD Award “Transition to ISO 45001” in the category of Health & Safety System Update & Improvement. The award was received by Mr. I. Chomatas, Projects Management Division Director.
  • GOLD Award “Holistic QHSE Management” in the category of H&S and Environment. The award was received by Mr. S. Ioannides, Health & Safety Department Manager.
  • SILVER Award “Every Opinion Counts” in the category of Effective Employee Participation. The award was received by C. Silamianos, LNG Department Unit Lead.
  • SILVER Award “Risk Management” in the “Evaluation & Parameterization of New Occupational Risks” category. The award was received by E. Drosos, Environmental Issues Section Head.

As DESFA’s Health & Safety Department Manager, Mr. S. Ioannides, stated: “We are proud to receive once again the specific distinctions in the field of Health and Safety at the Workplace, a sector that is considered as a point of reference and special attention for our company. Being responsible for the management of a 1,454-km network, the Revithoussa Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Station and many facilities, we are constantly aiming to provide the appropriate personnel training on health and safety issues, while monitoring new technologies’ developments with the ultimate goal to adopt and implement them.”

DESFA, being distinguished over the last few years in the “Health & Safety Awards” among many participants, remains faithful in its commitment for the establishment and implementation of a framework for the prevention of unsafe situations and accidents, through its compliance and, where possible, the fulfillment of the legislation requirements on health and safety at work.
