February 2024

The 24/7 ZEN project reached a milestone with its one-year consortium meeting at Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy on February 13-14. The meeting brought together all partners to discuss the progress, achievements and next steps of the project.
🌐 The focus of the meeting was the discussion of the progress in the design and development of a high-performing 33/100kW scale rSOC (reversible solid oxide cell) power balancing plant, which is the project’s main target, in order to showcase its compatibility with both the electricity and gas grids, highlighting its potential in achieving sustainable energy solutions.
✔ During the meeting, the consortium focused on the progress that has been made, the timeline and the next steps about the identification of different scenarios and configurations for grid integration, and energy system and rSOC pilot requirements. Furthermore, the development of enhanced SOC components for optimised reversible operation, rSOC system development, requirements for the integrated power balancing demo plant, as well as the dissemination and communication activities were outlined and thoroughly discussed.
💡 The 24/7 ZEN consortium aims to develop innovative energy solutions, contributing to the transition towards a more sustainable renewable energy future.
🙏 We warmly thank Politecnico di Torino for hosting the meeting.
Stay tuned for more updates on the exciting progress of the 24/7 ZEN project.

February 2023

Our project has officially been launched!✅
Kick off meeting took place in Barcelona, Spain on Monday 13 February 2023, hosted by Dr. Marc Torell (IREC).
Meet #24_7ZEN, reversible SOEC/SOFC system for a zero emissions network energy system.
It’s a 36 – month – long project co-funded by European Union and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) which consists of 14 partners.
More specific:
-from Spain – IREC-CERCA (COORDINATOR), INERCO
-from Greece – CERTH, CLUBE, FORTH, EUNICE, DESFA
-from Italy – SolydEra_IT, KIWA_CER, KIWA_CRE, POLITO
-from Belgium – BOS
-from Switzerland – SolydEra_CH, OST, HSLU
The 24_7 ZEN project will identify the requirements for the rSOC components, stack and system, as well as the integration of the developed system to both electricity and gas grid, to create the rSOC ecosystem! It will enhance state of the art (SoA) cells and stacks and advance and scale – up the system to reach ambitious targets. The 24_7 ZEN rSOC system will be integrated as a plug and play rSOC ecosystem designed for full compatibility with the gas grid and the electricity grid, with configurations for off-grid settings.
Stay tuned for more updates, developments and news.🔋
